It's hard for me to believe in the gods when i'm told from someone else about them. Can i get to know them by myself?

Absolutely. Most Pagans,

Absolutely. Most Pagans, once they reach a certain point on their path, leave books and teachers behind and begin a period of individual exploration. It is very important that you develop a personal relationship with your Gods and noone else can do that for you. If you have trouble doing this, it could be that the God you're after isn't meant for you.

The best way to learn about the Gods is to begin with the basics. Find all the information you can about the God or Goddess and learn what other people have to say first, but you don't have to take this at face value. Read the myths associated with the Gods and meditate on them. Most of them have a deeper, hidden meaning. Think about the God/dess before you go to sleep, say a prayer to invite Him or Her to visit you in your dreams. Finally, go on mediative journeys to seek out more information about the God/dess you wish to know about. The best way to learn about a anybody is by getting to know them personally. This is true of the Gods as much as of people.
