This is a good time for spellwork and personal action devoted to creating the YOU you want to be. Now is the time to "find yourself" and define yourself. Take a good look at yourself, are you happy with who you are? What to do other people say about you? Does that please you? If there are changes to be made, now is the time! This is not so much the time for negative actions, such as removing things (like breaking bad habits) but if that's all you've got, run with it. More appropriate is adding things, like finding that new job, registering for classes at a university, getting a makeover, starting a new workout program, whatever it is you think you need to do to become the person you want to be. The new moon in Aries is about forward action, not abstinance. The time of waiting and preparation is over. Let's go!
April 20th is the Full Pink Moon. This name was given to this moon due to the native pink phlox that grow wild all over the United States, but especially in the midwest. They are among the first flowers that bloom en masse after the barren cold winter of this region. This full moon in Scorpio provides us with an opportunity to take a good hard look at the goals we have set and the progress we have made and see what's working and what isn't. Journey work can help with this. Ask the Universe, "Does this serve the greater good?" or better yet, "How can I reach my goals and serve the greater good at the same time?". If that's too high-minded for you, then focus inward "How are my actions and attitudes standing in the way of my goals?". If you don't have any particular goals in mind at the moment, focus on the Earth honoring aspect of the month of April and ask, "How do my habits and behaviors harm the Earth?". Harsh? Yes, but Scorpio is all about looking at the harsh realities with cold, analytic honesty.
April is the month for honoring the Earth. Many of us are eager to get back in the garden and get some dirt under our nails. Even the secular community honors the Earth in April with Arbor Day on April 25 offer you great excuses to honor the Earth. Check out the ritual section of the Sacred Hearth website for some Earth-honoring and Tree-honoring activities to do alone or with your family. And if you're the gardening type, I'd like to point out some of my favorite gardening sites! The first is Gardening by the Moon. They offer a fabulous piece of software that allows you to organize your gardening tasks by lunar phase and astrological corrospondance. Very cool. My second recommendation is The Old Farmer's Almanac which lays it out for your for free and has lots of great gardening tips and recipes. Yes, it's still a must-have reference for all gardeners!
I hope you'll forgive me for keeping this short this month but my garden is calling!
