Househunting Spell
Househunting can be joyful and stressful all at once. Budget is a huge issue and it's almost a relief to have to take the first thing you can afford and "make it work", assuming there's something out there you can afford that you can make work. Sleeping in a fire trap of a basement or having a living room double as a bedroom, cooking in a kitchen with zero counter space and a sink that looks like it was made to scrub laundry on a washboard, maybe reconciling yourself to cleaning out the crap the former tenants left behind. Which is the lesser of the evils? Or maybe you have a bigger budget and you're shopping for your dream house and there are oh-so-many to choose from (The market in Michigan is flooded as I write this) but which one do you choose? Is that landlord going to treat you right? Is it worth paying a little extra for lawn and snow removal? The yard is a dream, but can you really face endless summers of mowing mowing mowing? The neighborhood is great but can you live without a garage? It's perfect, but if only it had a little more storage...
It can be tough choosing the right house, and then when you pick it there's always the breathless waiting period while they check your credit and references. Holy Cow! How do we stand it? Here's a spelli I whipped up for just such an occasion. Born, of course, of need, as all good things are.
You will need:
A blank key (You should be able to get these at a hardware store. As you purchase it, purchase it with the thought in your mind that as soon as you get the key to your new home you are going to have to have a copy made and this will be the copy.)
Your key ring (The one you use every day)
Two green candles
You may also choose to include incense, oils, etc. that correspond to home, hearth, etc. or place images of Hestia as Goddess of the Hearth and Zeus as protector of the code of Hospitality in your rituali area.
Begin your ritual as you normally would. Cast your circlei, if that's what you do, invokei your Gods and/or ancestors, call the quarters, powers, or 7 directions and/or do a circle dance, whichever is appropriate to your own way of doing things.
Place the candles so that you are positioned between them and place the key where you can easily see it and begin focusing on your intention of moving into the perfect home while raising energy. Don't think about searching for the home. Instead, picture the perfect house that has everything you need a house to have. Really see it. Ask for guidance and let it come to you if you have trouble.
If you are a couple searching for a home together and using sex magicki technique, you should each buy a key and wear it on a chain or a bit of yarn throughout the procedure. Focus on your partner's key and trade keys at the end.
Once you've got a clear image of the house in your mind, picture yourself walking up to it (Not as if you are watching yourself walking up to it, but as if you actually are seeing it all from inside your body.) take out your key ring and find the right key (the blank key you bought at the hardware store) stand before the house, with the key in your hand as use whatever method you are using to further raise your energy. At the peak moment, insert the key in the lock and open the door, then walk into the house, knowing it is yours and feeling the warm sense of being safe at home and hang the key on a hook by the door (or drop it on a counter, or whatever you generally do with keys when you're not using them) close your eyes in your imagining and open them in reality and find the key.
Pick it up and put it on your key ring. You'll be needing it soon, you don't want to lose it.
Open your circle and carry on as normal.
The Quick Witchi Way
If you're like me and you don't fall in for ceremony. Here's the Quick Witch way!
Buy your key. Hold it in your fist, right there in the store. Picture yourself walking up to the door and opening it with your key. Put your key on your ring, knowing you're going to need it later and carry on as usual.
Note: This spell can also be used when car shopping.
