The Full Corn Moon
It's a magical life!
Another full corni moon and boy is my schedule busy. When I have finally completed my long work day, I will be sending healing energy to several local women who have had various medical issues lately and then doing my very best to ground myself. My dog training skills are in demand which is keeping me quite busy and has me daydreaming about the demise of my dayjob. My husband's band is also in demand, but not so much that he can have similar thoughts. My daughter believes she and her dog are ready to starti competing in agility and that is where our Labor Day weekend is going to go.
I'm not so exciting, onto the news. There's been some hullabaloo in Michigan over some guy's incredibly creepy attempt to create a Pagan/Witchi themed adult website. You can read more about that at Witchmoot.com. And I'll be keeping a close eye to see how that turns out. Now I don't have anything against adult websites whatever the theme but his methods raise eyebrows.
In Texas a prison inmate is suing claiming his prison discriminates against Wiccans and does not allow him access to Wiccan clergy, reading materials and symbols. The prison says this isn't true and they try to accommodate everyone, etc. The case is under litigation so we'll have to keep an eye on it and see what happens.

Witch in the Garden
So my squash was attacked by these ridiculous little worms. I thinned my squash early on and the two plants I moved to other locations are fine. Just the two plants in their original location were attacked.
I noted they weren't looking so good. I was excited because they were finally starting to show evidence of actually producing some squash and then they suddenly started drooping and turning yellow. I examined them carefully and found little holes drilled into the stem. Squash Vine Borers. I used a razor blade to slit open the stem and used tweezers to pull the worms out. I then threw them in the pond for the fish. I'm not sure the squash is going to make it. They say if you mound moist dirt over the damaged stems they'll grow new roots above the damage, but I'm not feeling so confident. Witch in the Kitchen
I have seriously been so busy that I have had practically no time to cook. But I did make a fabulous lasagna last weekend that I was hoping to freeze in individual containers for take-a-long meals, but it didn't last long enough to cool. Lasagna is wonderful comfort food and can be made light by switching to skim milk cheese (but why?). You can also mix up the herbs and veggies you add for specific magical uses. You can really mix it up and still have it be wonderful. Layer on the basil to soothe anger and resentment and encourage reconciliation. If you miss the ground beefi, lightly mash a can of beans and use those instead to encourage wise decision making and give the lasagna more "meatiness".

Argh! I'm so angry I ordered a book on animal communication from BOMC2.com and it never came. I asked customer service what was up and they said it was returned (could they not have called or emailed me when this happened?). The address was right, so I don't know what the deal is. I told them to resend it. That was over a week ago and it still hasn't arrived. >:|
